Norms Greenhouse and Nursery is closed for the 2014 season and will be eagerly awaiting the arrival of spring 2015...

In the meantime, please remember to feed your feathered friends. (and the furry ones)

Homemade Suet recipe follows:

Begging Squirrel

Make your own homemade Suet for the birds

2 cups suet or lard (walmart sells lard in buckets in their baking aisle)(or if you have Martha Stewart tendancies you can render your own fat from beef)

1/2-1 cup chunky peanut butter ( I had smooth so I just used that and added shelled peanuts)

1 cup rolled oats 1 cup yellow cornmeal

1 cup mixed bird seed

1 cup sunflower seeds

cut up apples or raisins

you can add wheat flour, bread crumbs, dried mealworms, whatever you can think of.

Melt the suet, lard and peanut butter on stove. Add everything else. I used muffin pans and miniature cheesecake pans, I greased them first and added a twist tie/wire hanger before I poured it in. Freeze. About four of the muffin tin ones fit into the little store bought suet feeders.
